Not Just for Christmas
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas/Solstice time and that you have welcomed 2026 with open arms. From what I’ve read, 2026 is going to be a year of many changes. Lots of new things and old things having to change - let’s see!
I love Christmas/Solstice time simply because people seem to be a lot kinder to one another. Mistakes are forgiven easier, people are polite to each other. Strangers talk to each other more easily and we treat each other with much more consideration. I know there are exceptions. Sometimes families fall out over Christmas, and well, some people never feel the need to be kind or considerate.
Thinking about writing this and Christmas made me think about Jesus Christ. Now I know that some of you are not Christians and may be wondering if I have suddenly got converted but I want to say something about Christ that does not belong to any religion. I might be a spiritual person but I don’t follow any particular religion. My beliefs though, are this:
Jesus Christ chose to incarnate at that particular time on the planet in order to express the truth and this truth is LOVE. He showed us how to do it, how to express that love. Most of the time (according to the Bible) he expressed it calmly, beautifully, and tried to show others how they can do it too. Sometimes he showed it passionately, as with the market that was set up in the temple grounds.
His whole message was about love. Don’t judge, have compassion, forgive. Do to others as you would like done to yourself, which I think is what happens around Christmas. Christ wasn’t the only one teaching about love. Buddha, Rumi, and more recently Desmond Tutu are but a few. It is easy for us to believe that Christ and the others were special, that they were Divine Beings but we are also Divine Beings. We are also Divine Beings in human form and if we let ourselves express our Divine Self, express the truth, then that would be in the form of love.
Most of us were brought up learning about human love which seems to be conditional and I’m sure many of us heard things like: ’I will love you if you behave’, ‘I will love you if you do as I say/want’. This is not Divine love, Divine love is totally unconditional. Some of us were lucky and had parents who loved us unconditionally. Divine Love isn’t conditional on our behaviour, it doesn’t judge who deserves to be loved and who doesn’t, it is the pure essence of the universe. That is the Truth - the essence of the whole of creation and beyond is Love. We are Love, whether we feel it or not, express it or not, our very essence is Love, the same essence that is the Universe, the Creator, the Source.
Christ incarnated to show us how to live the Truth, how to live in total unconditional Love and I ask you - why did you choose to incarnate at this particular time on the planet? Probably didn’t want to miss the fun! And if you think you didn’t choose, think again - we are Divine Beings and I believe our purpose is to express our Divine Love in every thing we say and do. Not always easy I admit but it might help if you remember how Christ and the others showed us.
There have been so many predictions regarding this particular time for humanity. Lots of those predictions seem to indicate that we are birthing a new humanity, that indeed we have to. This year is the opportunity to really be part of that birthing process. Every human is being asked to expresses unconditional love, to have no room in their heart for jealousy, envy, judgement or hate. This new human who can uplift those who feel downtrodden, who can bring sunshine to those who only see the rain, who can laugh in the face of obstacles and challenges. What a great opportunity we are being presented with.
I do believe this is why we chose to incarnate at this particular time. To bring our creativity, our energy, our wisdom and knowledge but most of all - our Love. It is Love that will save this planet and we do know how to do it, don’t we?
'Your task is not to seek love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.' Rumi
